The Un-named Café

Since 2009 we have been running the café and restaurant at the Wingello Village Store as "The Un-named Café".
Over the last 6 years we have provided over 25,000 meals which has been a wealth of experience. We have continually examined and refined our range and all the ingredients that go into our simply good food and it has shown in our growing customer base.
So now is a good time to develop an appropriate logo.
What do you reckon?

Just make sure you are hungry before ordering!

Another great Chef's night special

Chicken Kiev Balls
We had a great night this evening with our 3rd Chef Night Special.  About 30 dinners were served to a fun group of diners in a warm store on a chilly evening.
Our Gluten intolerant and Vegetarian diners did not miss out with a special menu for them too.
Now Eric is considering what his next special will entail!
The next dinner is on Friday 18 July.
Hearty Rich stew - with seconds!

Sticky Date puddings with caramel sauce and ice cream

Eric, showing us how it is done.

This is how Lolly Bags are made

Ariel not sneaking a lolly between bags
We have around 70 different types of lollies (aka Candy in the US) which customers can individually select.
For those that don't want to wait, we pre-fill $2 bags.  This is how the bags are filled.
We decide a nice selection of lollies that combined equal $2 and then hand fill the bags. It's all very personal.

The hardest part?
Not sneaking in a lolly while packing the bags.

Christmas in July - book now!

This Pudding is maturing as we speak...
We will be having our Traditional Christmas in July on Friday evening, 26 July.
A selection of Entrees, a main meal of tantalising glazed ham and glazed turkey with roast potatoes and vegetables, followed by a home made Christmas pudding served with custard and ice cream (of course).
Join the friendly locals as they share a BYO bottle or two of appropriately selected drinks.
Bookings are essential.  We have over 30 people booked in already.  Call the store today on 4884 4340 to make your booking.

Mmmm. Mushrooms.

A spoon is needed to pour it out.
Friday night is BYO Restaurant Night at the store. We have a 4 week cycle of dinners and tonight was our signature "Very Mushroomy Creamy Mushroom sauce".  We serve the sauce in a gravy boat so our customers can pour it on to their chicken or Angus schnitzels.
Well, by "pour" we mean "Spoon" because there are so many mushrooms cooked down into a very thick rich creamy sauce that it doesn't pour properly.  That is why we took the photo so you could tell for yourself.

Our Christmas in July Community Dinner was very successful.  We had glazed ham and turkey with Christmas puddings as well as enjoyable company making for a great night.
For the next community dinner we will be celebrating “Spring Carnival” on Friday 23 September.
Dress up, enjoy a great meal and fun company and even BYO.

Horse Endurance Ride a great success

The Southern Highlands Horse Endurance Ride was a great success with 172 riders taking part in a 20km, 40km, 80km or 100km ride.
The new base camp situated on private property worked extremely well, providing a very communal atmosphere.  It seemed as if a little village appeared on the Friday evening and Saturday morning, hustled and bustled with activity and good cheer for the two days and then quickly disappeared by Sunday evening!
Once more the Wingello Village Store was a Minor Major Sponsor and this year we also provided on-site catering.  By the end of the two days we had provided over 270 burgers!  Consider that if you piled all these one on top of another, this would make a tower of yummy food 10 metres high!
Next year Wingello will be host to the State championships of the Horse Endurance Rides.

Wingello Community Meals - June & July

Following the success of the inaugural Wingello Community dinner, we will be having the next one on 10 June.
Make a booking to be part of the meal and great company.  $22 a head gets you the three course meal, probably in front of the fireplace on a chilly evening.  BYO wine to share in the conviviality!
Christmas in July!
On 22 July we will be having a Christmas in July celebration as the community meal.  Same price, same deal, all with a Christmas theme - without the presents and Midnight Mass, but probably with chilly Winter weather Northern climates are used to at Christmas time.

Robertson Show 2011 Winners Again

Yummy.  Served with Jam and Cream.

Eric’s scones once more won first prize for Scones.
Lana won first prize for her Muffins and biscuits.
This is not surprising to all those who have enjoyed these delights at the shop, but it is good to have confirmation!
The Robertson Show was very enjoyable.  Even very heavy rain in the afternoon didn’t stop the show.  When asked if they should change anything because of the rain, organisers looked at each other and said, “Nah.  This is Robertson.  Rain is part of the Show.”
The parking control people had their 4WD vehicles ready to pull vehicles through the exit (like they needed to for our Transit van).
So whether an award was won or not, all that attended the Show were winners.
